Come Meet The Author

The Grist Mill Bone by B.B. Shamp

Press Release, Selbyville – The Delaware Press Association has recognized The Grist Mill Bone by B. B. Shamp, as the second place winner in the adult novel category. It has also been selected as a finalist for theda Vinci Eye Award, a literary and artistic international recognition.

“I couldn’t be more excited,” said Shamp at her home on Dirickson Creek. “This may be a tribute to my writing but it’s also a tribute to the rich culture of the Peninsula. I am so lucky to find inspiration in the history, people and beauty of our lands and waterways.”

The Grist Mill Bone is a novel of literary suspense and an homage to living on Delmarva. Shamp states that her readers relate to her characters but are also thrilled to read about places they know and love. Cambridge and Salisbury’s darker history in the era of lynching and civil rights are intertwined in the novel’s quest for truth and family on the Delaware shore.

Shamp grew up hearing stories of watermen, tobacco farming and small town life from her parents and was drawn to the gritty contrast of relatives who eked a living from the land and reveled in the beauty of Eastern Shore vistas. These memories have sustained her writing life.

“The Grist Mill Bone weaves two timelines from historical events in coastal Maryland with imagined events on the Delaware shore. Colloquial dialogue is sprinkled throughout small town life as joy and sorrow give the reader heart in a place, time, and people they know on the Eastern Shore.” -backcover text.

Her short story, The Sotweed Legacy was recognized by the Delmarva Reviewliterary contest, Chesapeake Voices in 2017.
